Experience the old port

Home / Experience the old port

On foot

Walking Ancona’s shopping street, Corso Garibaldi, or driving on Corso Stamira or Via XXIX Settembre, we come to Piazza della Repubblica, facing the sea. Here we find the main entrance to the port area, right in the beating heart of the city.
A short walk to the north takes us to the centre of the old port.
The area can also be reached via the Portella di Santa Maria or Portella della Dogana, located at the end of Via della Loggia, opposite the beautiful Romanesque church of Santa Maria della Piazza.
A third entrance crosses the archeological area of the Trajan port.

By car

Parking is available on Lungomare Luigi Vanvitelli; from here, the old port can be reached on foot.
There are also two convenient supervised car parks serving this area of the city: the Traiano at Via XXIX Settembre, 2 and the Cialdini at Via Enrico Cialdini, 2. Alternatively, you can pay to park on the blue lines in nearby streets. For more information about parking and payment methods, please consult the website www.anconaparcheggi.it

Public transport

From Ancona train station you can take bus 1/3 or 1/4 (every 10 minutes) to Piazza Kennedy, which is two minutes from the main entrance to the port. For more information about public transport, we recommend the website of local transport company Conerobus (www.conerobus.it)
